The Redwood Director is an appliance that provides a single, convenient interface for commissioning, managing, controlling and reporting on a large number of Redwood Engines. It also hosts the Redwood Open Application Framework which provides two-way communication and systems integration between the data collected by the platform and other external applications or systems. Integration support includes both an Application Programming Interface (API) and BACnet/IP protocol, supported by ASHRAE, ANSI and ISO for building automation and control systems.
The Framework can export any or all of this data to external applications such as conference room booking systems, to give visual cues as to whether rooms are currently occupied or free, or provide historical reporting and analysis of room occupancy. It can also send data to a Building Management System (BMS) to indicate if there is no longer occupancy in a particular area of a facility and have the BMS automatically turn down the heat or air conditioning.
On an inbound basis, the Open Application Framework enables external systems to control the lighting or access the real-time sensor network data.
