The Redwood Sensor collects data on light levels, temperature and motion. Easily installed in the ceiling tile or junction box near the fixture, the Sensor communicates with a Redwood Gateway via a pre-terminated cable with RJ25 connector to send information to the Redwood Engine.
The Redwood Adapter, designed to disappear into the plenum or ceiling, is an alternate design to the two-piece LED Gateway and Sensor combination. It integrates all the functionality of the gateway and sensor into a single unit and acceptes only 18AWG wire. The adapter resides next to each LED fixture and replaces the traditional driver used by LED fixtures. The Adapter accepts low voltage DC power from the Redwood Engine via 18AWG wire and transfers this power to the LED fixture. But the Redwood Adapter does more than just provide power; it also contains a set of environmental sensors to enable Redwood Platform features designed to improve efficiency, including:
- Tailored occupancy accurately detects the presence or absence of people
- Daylight harvesting enables every light in the system to automatically respond to changing ambient light levels throughout the day, saving energy
- Operating condition of the fixture and memory to store fixture-specific identifying information
