Run a Performance Driven and Efficient Data Center

Redwood Systems enhances building performance through lighting and environmental solutions. Redwood’s Building-Performance Lighting Platform delivers 75% energy savings on average versus traditional lighting systems, while reducing or eliminating redundant environmental sensor networks. The platform combines a state-of-the-art lighting and control system with a high-density sensor network, that provides advanced control capabilities along with rich building performance data, to improve how data centers are lit, cooled, monitored and managed.

Lights-On or Lights-Off Data Centers – Inefficiencies Exist in Both
When Redwood is used in a "lights on" facility, significant energy savings through dimming can be achieved while maintaining enough light for security cameras to operate. Traditionally, in a "lights out" environment, occupants are relied upon to check if others are working in the area and if not, manually turn off lights. With Redwood, this is completely automated using unique motion-tracked lighting on a “follow-me” basis down individual aisles. This uses only the minimum energy necessary to light the area around occupants.
Environmental Monitoring
A granular sensor network monitors environmental data to fine-tune cooling, ventilation and lighting. For example, temperature sensors located at each lighting fixture collect detailed, real-time information, so a facility can measure and act on variable climates via a Building Management System (BMS). CRAC units, fans and floor baffle controllers can use this data to reduce the need for cooling in some areas or send more cooling to hot spots. This will reduce energy costs and extend the life of critical equipment.

“I am very impressed with Redwood’s solution for lighting in our data center. They are able to get low power consumption based on sensors at each light. I was pleased to see a running visual average of power usage over the last week which seems to be a 90% reduction. Plus they are doing more with these lights than just lighting based on their sensor technology.” Data Center Manager, Fortune 100 Technology Leader |
A Single, Cost-Effective Platform for Energy Savings and Environmental Monitoring
Commonly, lighting and controls involve three distinct and separate systems for power, control and measurement. The complexity of each system requires significant design time and field set up and delivers a system that performs with limited control and limited intelligence. With AC-power wiring, these systems are not easily expanded, upgraded or re-provisioned as the needs of the business change.
Redwood’s Building-Performance Lighting Platform serves as a single system to power and control lighting in the most energy efficient way, as well as monitor potential disruptions to uptime based on multiple environmental sensing points.
